Getting the most from coaching.

What to expect...

Coaching is a collaborative process in which you work with your coach to achieve your goals. In the coaching session, the coach will use a process of inquiry and dialogue to help you work out a way to build your skills, adapt your leadership, and take action to move toward achieving your goals. The focus of each coaching session is up to you.

Before your coaching session...

For each coaching session, think about what is most important for you to focus the session on. This can be a current challenge, how to embed a new skill, or working through what is occupying your mind. Think about what you want to focus on and why it is important to you.

During your coaching session...

 You and your coach will partner in a dialogue and process of inquiry. You will find the coach will mostly ask questions to prompt your thinking and you will do most of the talking. The coaching process is aimed at helping you work things out for yourself. Be prepared to do some deeper thinking and catch the aha moments as they arise.

After your coaching session...

Immediately after the coaching session;
1. Capture what has emerged for you.
2. Get clear on your next action steps.
3. Book your next coaching session.

Additionally, spend some time after the coaching session reflecting on what came up and capturing the insights, ideas, and actions that arose.

Keep a journal or notes to refer to and reflect on as you start taking action toward your goals.

A good idea is to keep a note of what is working well, what is not, and what might you do differently to achieve the outcomes you want.

Confidentiality...

Confidentiality is integral to the coaching process. All your coaching sessions are confidential allowing you to bring your whole self to the session and discuss what is needed and relevant for your development.

Your coach abides by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics which guide their actions in confidentiality, transparency, psychological safety, and professional integrity. View the ICF Code of Ethics here - https://coachingfederation.org/credentialing/coaching-ethics
